Not only are the Cherrypickers winless to start the season, they are now without captain-coach James Woolford.
Woolford broke his arm in the loss to Southcity on Sunday and has since undergone surgery.
He did the damage in the first half before trying to play through with the issue.
However he later succumbed to the problem in the second half.
“I think he did it in the first half and thought it might have been just a cork in his arm and kept playing on,” forward Kyle Richens said.
“There was probably 15 minutes left in the game when it really went.”
It just adds to but has been a horror start for the club.
Young has a very similar side to the team who finished fourth last season but are yet to fire through the first five rounds.
However Richens thought they were better in patches against the Bulls.
“It was pretty good, we pieced it together a bit more and stuck it to them for a while,” he said.
“But they showed their class and were the better team.”
Southcity led 24-0 at half-time but Young did get back within 14 point midway through the second before the Bulls responded to take a 38-14 win.
They now face a long trip to tackle Albury.
Despite sitting on the bottom of the ladder, Richens believes there is still confidence in the group ahead of the trip to Greenfield Park on Sunday.
“The boys are still pretty confident even with the loss of James,” Richens said.
“I think everyone is still pretty keen and Albury are not going real flash either.
“Everyone is still confident we can get a win and get a roll on.”
Albury have not enjoyed the best of starts under former NRL player Adrian Purtell.
They’ve only won one game so far, against third placed Junee, but did only go to down to Southcity by six points.
Richens is unsure of what to expect from a Thunder outfit battling plenty of injury concerns.
“They have a fair few injuries so you don’t know what to expect especially travelling down there,” he said.
Numiasasulu Tema is expected to replace Woolford at hooker.
He played there for Tumbarumba last season and stepped into the position when Woolford came off against the Bulls.
