A couple of weeks ago, it was inferred that Graeme did not capitalise on his 65 cm nearest the pin on the eighth hole, but that appears to have been scuttlebutt, as he did, in fact, manage a great birdie.
The issue of the hazardous tree that has been dropping branches, between the fourth and fifth fairways, has been successfully resolved with some expert assistance from Murray Callaghan.
A large, dead ironbark tree was cut down with great expertise and a good saw last week.
The tree measured 24 metres (72 feet) laid out on the ground, though it remains uncertain as to what it measured standing.
The technique required was not standard, but one used for dangerous tree felling. The club much appreciates Murray’s work. A video of how the expert does it can be found at bit.ly/clgc-treefell.
Next Sunday will be the first round of the small clubs pennants for Clover Leigh at Bigga. Members participating are asked to gird their loins for this season’s opener.
Travel arrangements will be coordinated at next Saturday’s single stableford event, hitting off at 10 am.
The following Sunday, the pennants will be at Clover Leigh and anyone with an itch to rake and burn some sticks and leaves is welcome to come and scratch it, over the next two weeks, as we prepare the course in readiness.
