The Young and District Netball Association’s Open and Under 17 representative teams made the long journey to Gosford recently to compete in the Netball NSW State Championships.

The Open's team had a successful weekend on the courts finishing on the ladder equal third but a final ranking of fourth. Day 1 wins against Nelson Bay 14-12, Euroballa 28-9, Ulladulla 21-14, Cessnock 21-14, Singleton 17-10. Losses to Coffs Harbour 14-23. Day 2 wins against Dubbo 17-3, Tamworth 16-11, Narrabri 25-14, Gunnedah 21-9. Losses to Great Lakes 14-18. Draw to Nambucca Valley 16-16. Day 3 wins against Sapphire Coast 22-15, Armidale District 18-12, Cobar 25-12, Lakeside 22-17, Wollondilly 27-11. Draw to Westlakes District 18-18. The ladies did everyone proud. A big heartfelt thank you to Rachel Hall and Meryl Steele.
The Under 17s had a strong weekend. The girls shined on and off the court. We are very proud and congratulate the girls. Day 1 wins against Port Stephens 16-11, and losses to Mudgee District 6-14, Tamworth 11-16, Grafton 9-21, Macleay 11-14, Singleton 16-24. Day 2 wins against Quirindi 17-4, Armidale District 13-12, Narrandera 16-6. Losses to Lower Clarence 9-16, Goulburn 14-16, Muswellbrook 8-37. Day 3 wins against Lake Cargellico 24-15, Euroballa 20-16, Mount Druitt 26-17. Losses to Forbes 12-24, Blayney 11-16, Brunswick Byron 10-24 and Tumut 14-24.
