The new equipment included three new clinical equipment trolleys and a safer, wider and more comfortable treatment bed for bladder therapy.
The new purchases were made thanks to funds from the Auxiliary’s designated Oncology Funds.
Mrs Ward said the Auxiliary takes the responsibility of raising funds and purchasing equipment very seriously knowing locals have donated generously for the cause.
“Oncology Nurse Consultant Ms Louise Mugridge provides a written request and quote for any purchase requests and personally presents these at our Auxiliary meetings,” Mrs Ward said.
“We keep in mind that patients spend a lot of time in the Oncology Unit having chemotherapy and other non-malignant treatments and little things such as listening to current CDs, TV, and having a cup of tea or coffee can help to make their appointment as pleasant as possible.”
