The Young Historical Society are preparing to launch their new DVD and history panels which illustrates the history of James, Thomas and John White.
“The three brothers were Transported from England to Australia as punishment for horse stealing, in the early 1800’s,” Young Historical Society member and local historian Brian James said.
“It tells the story in pictures and text of their brother Joseph being hung, their time on the hulks in Portsmouth Harbour, their voyage to Australia, the failed attempt of two of the brothers to escape and their life as convicts in the Australian colonies.”
According to Mr James history has revealed one brother was tragically killed in a horse accident and another brother was murdered.
“Their dream of a reunited family in Australia was never really achieved.
“But the White and Regan family’s unite in marriage and become successful settlers in the Burrangong district and forge a good relationship with the local Aboriginal tribe.”
Mr James and fellow Young Historical Society member Larry Wordsworth, produced the DVD with a lot of help from Branden Adams and Emma Smith who did the voice over commentary.
Leon Isackson, author of the book “Brothers in Exile”, which this story was based, will also be a guest speaker at the launch.

He performed with Dig Richards and the R’Jays in 1959 which became the Rajahs in 1964 and Johnny O’Keefe’s backing band for three years. He entertained the troops in Vietnam with Lucky Starr and then Eden Kane. He still performs and entertains at various venues.
