The lunch will be enjoyed by friends and family invited by the entrants, in the rustic charm of one of Young’s most picturesque orchards.
This is the event’s fifth installment, and is a joint fundraiser for the Cherry Queen entrants to raise funds for their chosen charities ahead of this year’s National Cherry Festival.
Amelia’s chosen charity is Can Assist, a cancer assistance network for rural people, while Clare is raising funds for Young Community Chest.
Clare, who moved to Young four years ago, said she was inspired by the community and the culture behind the Cherry Festival.
“The charity [Young Community Chest] I’ve chosen helps raise money and support local people who are in need,” Clare said.
“I know I have been through challenging times and to know there’s help, it really is encouraging and it helps bring the community together.”
Amelia, born and raised in Young, wants to provide assistance to people affected by cancer.
“I chose Can Assist because I feel as though cancer is something that has affected everyone in one way or another, whether that’s losing an aunt or a parent. I’m familiar with how financially consuming it can be,” Amelia said.
Senior adviser of the Croatian embassy, Mrs Sandra Tvrtkovic, will be the guest of honour at the Long Table Lunch.
The Cherry Blossom Long Lunch has become an annual Hilltops region event and a platform to showcase and celebrate Croatian culture.
The event recognises the role played by Croatians in the development of the cherry industry in Young.
Guests will aboard a bus about 11.30am, Sunday.
