“Young PCYC has been operating in Young since 1937 and our mission is to get young people active in life,” Senior Constable Karen Clark said. “We work with young people to develop their skills, character and leadership, we reduce and prevent crime by and against young people.”
The Young PCYC has been building its boxing program over the last 12 months with assistance from local Superintendent Christopher Schilt as its coach.
“We have developed some promising boxers and as a result decided to bring boxing back to Young by hosting a Charity Fight Night,” Clarke said.
The Charity Fight Night will be on November 10 and will be the Young PCYC’s major fundraiser for the year.
“This will be the first boxing event Young PCYC has held in over 20 years and will be attracting boxers from across the State.”
There will be at least nine local fighters taking part in the fight night so organisers are hoping to find local sponsors to help support the night.
“As you would understand that it is a very expensive outlay of up to $8000 to host the evening and with your support and possible sponsorship this would assist the PCYC in hosting a successful event for the community of Young and surrounding areas,” Clark said.
All money raised over and beyond the costs to host the event will all directly return to Young PCYC and assist in running youth programs and further develop the boxing club. For more information contact Karen Clarke on 0428465324.
