McCorkindale was the most consistent performer behind the wheel in the support race to the V8 Supercars Gold Coast 600.
The 27-year-old labelled it one of his most memorable achievements.

McCorckindale negotiated a “daunting” street circuit to finish with two seconds and a third in the heats to edge out Jack Smith and Dubbo teenager Tyler Everingham overall.
“I’ve had quite a few firsts but this was special because it was at the Gold Coast 600. People who aren’t even interested in motor sport still watch it, I think about 200,000 people came through the gate,” McCorkindale said.
“Practice on Friday went terribly. I had a lot of mechanical issues, it wasn’t an ideal start. It’s a daunting track.”
The Young driver led throughout the final heats before being pipped at the line during the final laps.

While that was disappointing, overall victory was sweet, he said.
“To be on that stage, even though I’ve had wins before, it was pretty special,” McCorkindale said.
McCorkindale enters an off season before returning for five rounds of support to the V8 Supercars in April.
Prior to that he’ll be aiming to secure a grant to move to the Super2 Series.
