Lyon’s off-spin registered 49 wickets for Australia, three behind Kagiso Rabada of South Africa on 52 and two off Dilruwan Perera of Sri Lanka on 51.
Lyon played 10 Tests in the calendar year and bowled at an average of 34.04 with best single innings bowling figures of 6/122 and 8/106 in a match.

The International Cricket Council’s (ICC) latest Test rankings released on Sunday leaves Lyons outside the top five and shows Rabada as the world’s leading Test bowler.
