The annual general meeting of the Young Historical Society was held on February 26 at the Lambing Flat Museum in Campbell Street.

A good roll up of members attended and all positions were declared vacant. An election was not needed as the old committee was returned.
The committee for the coming year is Brian James (president), Marilyn Stemm (vice president), Kevin Stemm (treasurer), Sandra Jenner (secretary), Sue Chapman (committee), Barbara Brennan (committee) and Janice Ward (committee).
The president's report and treasurer's report revealed that the visitor numbers and income were both down.
The members resolved to attempt to reverse this trend but as everyone knows advertisement is very expensive and the Museum is almost entirely self funded.

Tegan Anthes did an assessment of the collection as well as the building.
This was funded by a grant from Museums and Galleries.
The collection is in need of some remedial attention but the bulk of is in reasonably good order. Money is the main cure for this and we haven't got a lot.
The NBN was installed and is operating successfully but proved to be quite costly.
The room that was the porcelain doll's room as been taken over by the Museum for storage.
A new photo copier was donated by the Cherry Capital Collectors' Club.
The Lions Club of Young donated a new refrigerator to the Museum.

The volunteers though low in numbers do a marvellous job in keeping the museum open seven days a week and help the visitors have an enjoyable experience.
The Embassy of the Peoples Republic of China donated a costume of the Mongolian Ethnic Group to the Young Historical Society.
The Deputy Head of the Mission expressed his thanks for the enjoyable after hours visit to the Museum by the Chinese Consul General.
Sandra Jenner, the secretary, developed an exhibition featuring the boxing champions associated with Roy Richens and Young.
The Historical Society is organising an event with Young historian Ross Maroney on June 29.
