Young is gearing up for the 2019 Lambing Flat Chinese Festival this Saturday to celebrate the diverse and multicultural history of the town.

The festival is a nod to Young's Chinese heritage that reaches back to the 1860s during the gold rush period, however in 2019 the event will also be welcoming the 'guest nation' of South America. Visitors will travel to Young to take part in many of the activites being held during the festival.
All Day Activities
9.30am - 9pm: Lambing Flat Sculpture, Wood and Big Art Exhibition.
9am-9pm: Lambing Flat Folk Museum - See the original Lambing Flat Banner and other historic and quirky artefacts from Young's past.
9am-2pm: Young and Region Farmer's Markets at Anderson Park.
10am-1pm: Millard Centre
10.30am-12pm: Traditional Chinese Music by David and Eva - These performers are no strangers to Young having been a part of the Festival before. The pair will perform several pieces of traditional Chinese music for crowds to enjoy.
11am-12pm: Author Helen Joy Buck "The Dragon in the Park." - At the Young Library on Lynch Street.
3pm: Boorowa Street Closes
5pm-9pm: Food and Cultural Markets on Boorowa Street
5pm-9pm: Artisan and Boutique Markets at the Millard Centre.
5pm-9pm: Gold Commisioners Tent - on Boorowa Street.
5pm-9pm: Tony Joes Amusements on Boorowa Street
5pm-9pm: Lantern Decorating, Chinese Calligraphy, God of Fortune Mascot, Pig from Journey from the West, Traditional Chinese Music, Traditional Chinese Costumes.
5pm: Acknowledgement of Country and official opening of the Lambing Flat Chinese Festival - Boorowa Street.
5.15pm: Future Faces - Boorowa Street
5.45pm: Traditional Chinese Dress Show
6pm: Galmourosas - South American Performers - Boorowa Street.
6.30pm: Prosperous Mountain Lion Dance
7pm: Lantern parade with prosperous mountain lion dance.
