"Many visitors from all round the state returned for a day of reminiscing and old stories of their times at the Club in prior years," David Robinson said.
"The day commenced with 100 attending the courts for tennis and morning tea, and the display of photographs, newspaper clippings and old tennis equipment was interesting to all."
During the morning event those in attendance were able to have a hit on the courts, catch up with family and friends and remember years gone by at the club.
The celebrations continued in the evening with a Centenary dinner held at the Young Services Club.
"170 people attended with tennis legends of the sixties, Jan Lehane, Lesley Turner and Bill Bowrey special guests on the night," David said.
Local chemist and sports enthusiast David Hamblin was the emcee at the centenary event.
"David Hamblin conducted an informative interview with them (Jan Lehane, Lesley Turner and Bill Bowrey) as they compared tennis of their era to tennis of today," David said.
Official guests for the evening included Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke, Mayor of Hilltops Shire Council Brian Ingram, NSW Tennis representatives Wayne Swaysland and John Ferguson and Club President Peter Brown.
"Bill spoke about tennis clubs providing more than just tennis today and spoke of new clubs in Sydney extending facilities to include a crèche, gymnasium and heated indoor pool," David said.
"Jan and Lesley then cut a magnificent cake that was supplied by Wilders Bakery."
According to David the guests were extremely interested in all the old photographs which had been laid out on a table and also the Honour Board listing all the champions dating back to 1919.
The 1948 champion, Maurice Penson was present at the event.
Club President Peter Brown paid tribute and thanked Young Tennis Club's coach and managers Lynne and Colin Maher for their service to the club and community over the last 40 years.
David also presented a history of the club relaying stories from the last 100 years and mentioning the popular Easter Tournament and the inter-town tennis competition played with other towns across the district.
President Peter Brown outlined the Club's future going forward.
"Club members are looking forward to the refurbishment of the courts later this year and renovations to the clubhouse," David said.
