Police in the Young sector of the Hume Police District conducted close to 900 random breath tests between Wednesday and Sunday in towns of Boorowa, Harden, Young and Grenfell.
Despite one driver on Anzac Day afternoon caught four times above the legal limit and speeding on the Lachlan Valley Way near Boorowa, no other drink driving charges were issued.
Traffic and Highway Patrol Commander, Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy said while the numbers of people detected speeding and drink driving have declined, the Easter and Anzac holiday break featured too many stories of good people making bad choices when they took control of a vehicle.
"Driving is a privilege, not a right and there were some people we detected across the holidays who need to accept this and know they will be held accountable for their actions," Assistant Commissioner Corboy said. Nineteen lives were lost in the school holidays statewide.
