The Yabbies were able to keep a fast finishing Goldies at bay at the Boorowa Rugby Grounds, winning 33-27 despite Boorowa dominating the closing stages.
It was 7-5 at the break before Young raced to a 15 point lead at the hour mark. Young then slipped in concentration and allowed the Goldies back into the game.
"We probably took the foot off the pedal and allowed Boorowa to come close at the end. It was pretty close," Yabbies coach Ned Mullany said.
"We probably pushed too many 50-50 passes and turned the ball over rather than just take the contact. And discipline, we piggy backed them up field a lot. We just need to stay on for 80 minutes. That game didn't need to be as close as what it was."
Mullany heaped praise on the side's defence, once again proving to be the most pleasing part of the performance.
"It's definitely one of our strengths," he said.
The Yabbies have now won two games on the trot.
