Lions coach Mark Mellish said the result hurts more than last year's grand final loss.
"It hurts more than the grand final loss, we thought we should have got something out of the game," Mellish said.

- Mark Mellish
"It was a pretty tight game, there wasn't a lot of clear cut chances it was mostly played box-to-box.
"There were no really good opportunities to score, the surface was slippery from the rain so it was a really tight tussle."

Mellish said winger Alex Mitchell and Callum McCaffery and Mathew Mitchell were stand outs in a losing team.
"Alex played quite well attacking as a winger and dropped back to defend well as well," Mellish said.
"Mathew has a great throw-in and put us in some good positions, he can throw it half the width of the field."
Young returns home this Sunday for the first time in about a month.
The Lions will host Hanwood FC in another Pascoe Cup blockbuster.
Mellish hopes to see plenty of home support at Hall Bros Oval.
"They lost their first game of the season on the weekend and obviously won't want to make it two in a row, but we'll be trying to make it two. It'll be very difficult. We'd love some great support here. We've been on the road against Tumut, Tolland, Henwood Park and Lake Albert, it's our first time back in a month."
