Now in its fourth year, the iGiveLocal Program has to date donated over $100,000 to more than 190 local causes around the country.
The cheque was proudly presented to John Payne of the Rotary Club of Young by Frank Thompson of Thompsons Rural Supplies Young and Ross Henley representing Bayer.
The Rotary Club of Young has a very strong Youth Program that supports and sponsors children and young adults from primary school age through to 25-year olds.
John Payne said: "These funds will go towards our Learner driver simulator program, which we take to schools around the South-West slopes area".
"It's a realistic simulator complete with 'surround screen', steering wheel, brake, clutch and accelerator pedals and gives students a realistic experience of driving.
"We use this to educate them on the effects of drugs, alcohol and texting on their driving ability," he said.
The simulator allows users to experience night driving; driving in wet weather, ice, fog and high traffic; and hazards such as dogs, kangaroos crossing and cars suddenly pulling out into traffic.
Frank Thompson said: "The youth in small towns like Young are our future and that's why this is such a great initiative by the Rotary club".
"Last year the Rotary Club simulator was used by over 1,200 students, which is a fantastic achievement.
"We're delighted to be part of this and lend them our support".
Ross Henley added: "Brilliant initiative from the Rotary Club. John did mention that when using the simulator, you can really tell which kids have grown up on farms!".
The simulator, which can also be of benefit to older community members, has earned Young Rotary an Outstanding New Project Award ahead of over 40 other clubs in Rotary District 9700.
