Bronwyn celebrated her final day at Regency Jewellers on Friday, September 6 capping 23 years of selling gifts on Young's main street.
Bronwyn said she's loved working in a country town after growing up and living in Wollongong and Sydney before moving to Young in 1991. "Working in a country town and family business has been amazing. The customers make it," she said.
"Young is an amazing town. People love familiarity, and I love the familiarity of seeing people walking down the street and they know you and recognise you."
From birthdays to weddings, or customers spoiling themselves, Bronwyn said she's enjoyed how personal the job is.
"Having worked in retail or hospitality all my life, this is very personal. It's lifetime purchases and I think that's the big difference to selling jewellery and a pair of jeans," she said.
"It could be for anything. Just because, they might have had a win on the pokies and they treat themselves. Births, engagements, weddings, birthdays, all sorts of occasions. There's also the side when maybe there's been a death, however it's mostly positive stuff," she said.
She said facing people in a supermarket she knows are receiving a gift is one of the unique parts of the job.
Bronwyn will still be a familiar face and is looking forwarding to spending more time on the family farm.
