Greg is sharing his story as part of Mental Health Month to hopefully encourage people to find ways to help combat depression.
Greg, 47, says he's been battling depression for 20 years and after hitting a low point in his life about six years ago, he was put on medication and found himself gaining a lot of weight.
A work colleague offered him a train-a-mate for free membership with Anytime Fitness, Young which he decided to take up, albeit extremely difficult at the time, Greg said.
However, in the space of three months Greg has lost 25kg and is beginning to feel improved, both mentally and physically.
"I am finally starting to feel like the best version of myself, which I couldn't say for a very long time," he said.
Anytime Fitness, Young owner Elizabeth Viola said it is great to see a member experience such positive results.
"There are a lot of members like Greg who start up at our gym and within such a short space of time, you see a drastic change in their mood, appearance and overall confidence," she said.
"Owning this club has changed my entire outlook on health and exercise.
"Every day a member has an incredible story to share with me and I am so proud to call this community club my very own."
