The pair were accepted into UC's Fast Forward Program, all but guaranteeing them an offer of admission, a $2000 study grant, internship opportunities and employment as an ambassador for the university.
It's the first year the university has provided this program, with only 25 Year 11 students from ACT and the Canberra region receiving an offer.
Both Hannah and Kara are planning to travel following their HSC in 2020, but are excited to make the most of the offer and pursue tertiary studies at UC.
Hannah said she'd like to study a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science, or Bachelor of Business, and Kara is interested in UC's Bachelor of Communication and Media (Marketing Communication) degree.
"We got an email from our teacher asking if we'd apply, and we thought yea why not, we'll take a chance," Hannah explained.
"We had to fill out an application online and we got an email saying we were shortlisted and have an interview. Then we found out on November 1 that we'd been accepted."
Hannah said she received an email notifying of her offer about one hour before Kara.
"I got my email first and our friends said 'oh Hannah is the better twin'," Hannah laughed.
"I was freaking out for about an hour in class, I was so nervous. It wasn't a good afternoon," Kara added while also laughing.
"It was very funny, though," Hannah said.
The sisters will attend an orientation at UC next month.
Throughout the next 12 months they will participate in careers workshops, seminars, activities with industry partners and UC recruitment events.
Kara said it's a big opportunity, but is focusing on Year 12.
"It's a great opportunity, and we're very excited to start and to be a part of it," Kara said.
"[Year 12] is a big change from Year 11 already."
Upon maintaining their academic studies and active participation in the program, both will receive a guaranteed offer of admission to UC.
