The new principal Kathy Holding lives on a farm in Harden having grown up there.
"I worked in Harden initially at the catholic school and came across when it was at St Mary's," Ms Holding said. "I was assistant principal when it first became Hennessy 20 years ago."
Ms Holding said she was at Hennessy for about six years before she moved to Sacred Heart in Cootamundra where she was assistant principal.
"(I) then came back here and did some learning co-coordinator stuff and was assistant principal again," she said.
From Young in 2015 Ms Holding moved to Catholic Education in Canberra where she was a secondary math support person before she became the principal at St Anne's for four years but is now very happy to return to the town and step into her new role.
"I'm really excited to be back," she said. "I love this school but it's been really good to go out and work at other schools I've learnt an awful lot."
Ms Holding believes Hennessy is a very important school to not only Young but the district as well and is eager to start working with both her staff and students.
"We have fantastic staff. I'm looking forward to getting to know the kids, the kids are our future, the world is hinged around the kids that are growing up at the moment."
Ms Holding is very passionate about working in education and hopes her passion reflects in the way she leads the school and the expectations she has for her staff and students.
"It's really exciting working with teenagers and young men and women," she said. "Hennessy has a good reputation and we set high expectation from our students."
However it is the connection with the community that Ms Holding really wants to focus on.
"It's really important that we're part of the community. It's not just about the students in the school it's actually about the whole parent community and wider business community."
