Temperatures are set to soar for the final day of January, with a very high fire danger rating in place.
The total fire ban runs until 11.59pm on Friday and is in force in the following council areas: Cootamundra-Gundagai, Hilltops, Snowy Valleys, Goulburn-Mulwaree, Upper Lachlan, Yass Valley and Queanbeyan-Palerang.

During a total fire ban, no fires may be lit in the open and all fire permits are suspended.
Gas and electric barbecues may be used provided certain conditions are met.

The RFS provides the following advice for very high fire conditions:
- Well prepared homes that are actively defended can provide safety during a fire
- Follow your Bushfire Survival Plan and remain vigilant
- Keep informed by listening to local radio, watching television news broadcasts and monitoring www.rfs.nsw.gov.au.

- Cootamundra 43 degrees
- Goulburn 40 degrees
- Yass 43 degrees
- Young 42 degrees
