On Saturday February 1 sporting events in Young and across the region were cancelled because of the extreme heat, where as last Saturday they were called off because of the rain.
Not only was their finally some consistent rainfall across Young over the weekend but the rain also brought with it some cooler temperatures with the top on Saturday almost 20 degrees cooler than the previous week.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology Young received a total of 15.6mm of rain up until 9am on Monday morning.
The breakdown consisted of 6.4mm of rain up until 9am on Saturday morning, 3.8mm of rain up to 9am on Sunday and 5.4mm of rain up until 9am on Monday.
The only downside for many locals was the relentless winds.
The strongest wind recorded over Saturday and Sunday was recorded at 3.30pm on Sunday when the wind speed hit 72km/h.
On Saturday the top speed was recorded at 57km/h which was recorded at both 10.30am and 5.39pm.
In even more good news, the Bureau of Meteorology has predicted more rain to fall in Young across the majority of the week. According to the Bureau Young was expected to have showers with a possible storm on Monday afternoon, Tuesday is predicted to be the same, with a shower or two expected for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Saturday a possible shower is predicted.
