The Lambing Flat Folk Museum is calling on locals to keep it running by volunteering to help them out.
"The 3rd of February is a very important day," local historian Brian James said. "It will be remembered for a lot of things including the day the Young Historical Society Inc went into voluntary liquidation. Or it may be remembered as the day The Young Historical Society Inc, otherwise known as the Lambing Folk Museum, began its new and bright future."
The Museum is in desperate need of volunteers to keep it running and open to the wider community.
"The Society has fallen on hard times, not financially, but on hard times for people to work as volunteers," Mr James said.
A number of volunteers have had to step down from their roles at the Museum due to various reasons.
"New volunteers are needed badly, but the type that is required is keen and energetic and prepared to have a go at something new," Mr James said. "For interested persons the job be challenging and exciting. The museum volunteer of today can be multi-skilled."
The call for volunteers comes as the Museum faces a new outlook.
"The Lambing Flat Folk Museum is in the process of rejuvenating itself," Mr James said. "The committee of the Young Historical Society and the Lambing Flat Folk Museum are the one and same and by the end of February there will be a new committee running the show. So, if it not being run the way you want it to be blame no one but yourself."
According to Mr James the new committee will have the authority to run the show the way it likes.
"We have the services of a new, young and active Professor who wants to see the place hum," he said.
"We hope to have two types of committees members all volunteers. The Executive Committee will meet as a whole and will pass or reject motions and the Standard Committee will be the worker committee who does the day to day working of the museum."
