Students, staff and members of the community gathered at Young North Public School last Thursday for a special assembly, as part of Education Week celebrations.

The Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island flags were raised to mark NAIDOC Week and the beginning of the school's reconciliation action plan and call for unity.
Every student took a turn at ringing the old school bell, which has been standing since the school opened in 1953.
It was unveiled for the first time after it had recently received a much-needed makeover.
And school teacher Gillian Cusack was recognised for 30 years service to NSW public school education.
Visitors were invited to walk through the school's classrooms and a morning tea was shared.
Principal Ange Gay said it was massive day for Young North Public School.
Before the flag raising, she spoke about the importance of "unity" and the school's "new beginnings".
She said the unveiling and ringing of the refurbished bell was a symbol of "inclusivity" at the school.
"Over the past weeks our students have participated in many lessons, discussions and activities to authentically understand and embrace what it is that we can do as an individual towards reconciliation," she said.
"As we raise the Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags today, please take a moment to reflect on what each one of us can do every day through our own actions, that will mean more than just words, towards unity and reconciliation with our first nations people.
"It is so very fitting to be unveiling the refurbished school bell and plinth today as a symbol of inclusivity at Young North."
Gillian Cusack was congratulated on her service award for 30 years in NSW public school education, which has included 27 years at Young North.
"On behalf of our school community I would like to thank Mrs Cusack for her commitment and passion impacting on many students over many years at Young North Public School and congratulate her on this amazing achievement," Ange Gay said.
The bell restoration was made possible thanks to a community effort from school staff member Mike, the Oldfield family, and Young Powder Coating.
Steph Cooke MP joined the school's leaders for the unveiling.
"It was a delight to join Young North Public School staff, students and families for their Education Week special assembly, which included a flag raising ceremony and unveiling of the beautiful new school bell."
