Group Nine double act in State Of Origin

Young's Angus Crichton and Liam Martin, a Temora junior, will both start off the bench as New South Wales look to win back the State Of Origin shield on Sunday.

The pair had their roles confirmed on Monday.

Martin retained his place in the side following the 50-6 win in Townsville earlier this month after performing strongly for Penrith since.

The Dragons junior was given 30 minutes of playing time in game one, where he made 12 tackles and three runs.

Crichton is the new face in the team after being ruled out of game one due to suspension.

However his form since has been enough to give him the edge over Melbourne Storm forward Dale Finucane after Jake Trbojevic suffered a hip injury.

Coach Brad Fittler gave Crichton the nod believing it provides the side with the best balance.

"Angus and Dale are both fit and they have been outstanding for their clubs," Fittler said.

"The team won't change much. I feel like Angus will start on the bench and Dale on the extended bench so there's not much disruption."

Crichton is set to line up in his eighth State Of Origin game after making his debut in 2018. He was part of all three games in 2020.

NSW have already had a change of plans in their preparation due to the COVID situation in the Eastern Suburbs.

They used Coogee from their base before game one but have shifted to Kingscliff.

"It is a shame we don't get to spend our time in Coogee as it's been a very positive place but to go up to the North Coast now ensures there won't be any changes further into the preparation," Fittler said.

Game two is Sunday night at Brisbane.
