A group of local harness racing participants will no doubt be heading for the “big smoke” shortly when the annual Harness Racing NSW Awards night is conducted at the Sofitel Wentworth Sydney.

The glittering occasion will be held on Saturday, October 27 to acknowledge the performances of various horses, both pacers and trotters in age groups from two-year-olds to open class company.
Local bred pacer Don’t Think Twice is among the six nominations for the open class award, three Australian bred and three New Zealand bred horses have been included.
The other two Australians are Cherry Stride and Elle Yeah.
Owned by GJ Cummins, GT Anderson, AM Rashleigh, MR Hardy and DJ Hardy the mare has acquitted herself well above expectations in her racing career which commenced at Temora on March 1, 2016.
Her collective prizemoney total has reached a staggering $248,345 which includes five Group 1s. With 34 starts and 16 wins including a heat win and final of the two-year-old Gold Tiara ($50,000) at Bathurst, and also a heat win and final in the three-year-old Gold Bracelet ($25,000) at Bathurst.
Her wins in the Alabar Breeders Challenge at Young and the three-year-old fillies final at Menangle certainly put the icing on the cake for the daughter of leading sire Armbro Operative.
Her winning mile ratings of 1:51.4 and 1:54.9 are amongst some of the best in her class and with gifted gate speed and a toughness rarely found, she made many a heart flutter as she won her final race on Australian soil on June 16 this year at Menangle.

Owners of the champion pacer, who now calls America home when running an impressive first up second in her new stable, are hopeful that her dam, Nikalongboulevard can repeat the dose and many more champions are on the horizon.
Young Harness Racing Club wish them well and good luck when they make the trip to Sydney. Local trainers will head to Wagga on Friday afternoon to compete in the eight race program commencing at 1.35pm. They include Todd Day and Katy Jenner.
Harness racing will be conducted at the Young Paceway on Sunday afternoon with free admission and the usual amenities available. Starting times and fields were set to be released late on Thursday afternoon.
