The consul-general met with councillors and local businesses on Wednesday, October 17.
The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the relationship between China and the Hilltops in areas of trade, investment and tourism, Mr Ingram said.

“We hope that this visit helps us to strengthen our relationship with China and increase visitation by Chinese tourists,” Mayor Brian Ingram said.
The Discover Hilltops Region team hosted People Daily on Tuesday last week, October 16.
It’s the biggest newspaper group in China who came to Young specifically to gather information and interviews for a feature story on the region.

Young has a long history of Chinese culture and still holds some incredible Chinese landmarks including the Lambing Flat Chinese Tribute Gardens, which is still to this day one of the town’s most popular feature and tourist spot.
“It was a pleasure and honour to be able to show both Mr Gu Xiaojie and People Daily our beautiful town,” Mr Ingram added.
