According to Barbara, it has been a tough start to the season for some orchards in Young and the district due to the drought, and that didn’t exclude Virginia Orchards, however the cherry quality is great.
“The dry weather took a toll on all of the orchards and it definitely affected ours, but the cherries we are able to produce and keep producing have been absolutely delicious, juicy and ripe,” Barbara said.
The cherries at Virginia Orchards on the corner of Orchard and Elizabeth Street have started to make a strong comeback and in perfect timing for the season.
Alby and Barbara have been working hard to maintain a steady stream of delicious cherries and take a lot of pride in producing the best, they said.
Virginia Orchards is still on the look out for some seasonal workers.
“We are still looking for hard working and reasonably experienced cherry pickers to help us out this season, just a couple,” Barbara said.
