According to facts, Ali was stopped by police on Lovell Street about 9.05am on April 4 this year. He was subject to an oral fluid test which returned positive to illicit drugs.
A secondary test, which was forensically examined, returned a positive detection to methamphetamine and cannabis. While he had pleaded guilty to the charge, Ali said he has "never done methamphetamine".
"It's not just meth you shouldn't have in your system. You shouldn't have any illicit drugs in your system," Magistrate Michael O'Brien said.
Ali was also fined $300.
