In a statement released on Friday morning, Dr Marks says she'll be leaving council in early 2020.
Dr Marks started her tenure as general manager of Hilltops Council during September last year.
"I can confirm that I have advised council of my intention to resign from my role as general manager of Hilltops Council and will be leaving in early 2020. This will allow council and I to ensure that relevant projects are underway or completed running up to the next term of council," Dr Edwina Marks said in a statement on Friday morning.
"I have enjoyed my time with Hilltops Council and as general manager have relished the role given to me. I believe that the council and I have achieved a lot through this difficult time as a newly merged council.
"I will always hold close the time I have spent in this beautiful part of the world and the many wonderful people I have met."
More to come.
