A number of monthly nominees have been named, recognising individuals and teams who now have the chance to be named Young's junior, intermediate or senior 2019 Sportsperson of the Year.
A Team of the Year prize is also awarded.
The date of the presentation night is set to be announced later this month, as well as the special guest speaker, but is expected to be early 2020.
In June, junior nominees are Ethan Miller, Joshua Cameron and Lachlan Bailey for their efforts in under 12s rugby union, Nic Hall took the intermediate nomination for representing NSC CCC in rugby league, and Margo Parker (bowls) joined the senior Sportsperson of the Year running.
Dan Smith, Rory McGrath, Tom Burnett (under 14s rugby union) were recognised juniors for July, Ellie Silk (cross country) entered the intermediate Sportsperson of the Year running, while bowlers Dave Quigly and Damian Miller were the recognised seniors.
Young Lions soccer stars Duncan Cameran and Patrick Hislop for August are the nominated seniors, Faith Evans was recognised for dance in the intermediate category, and Elyse Shea and Shania McKinnon (gymnastics) were nominated juniors.
For September, Cherrypicker Mitch Prest joined the running for intermediate Sportsperson of the Year, and Ashley Bennett was the recognised senior for equestrian.
October nominees for intermediates are twins Brock and Clay Sing, while for seniors Cherrypickers Jayke Hogan and Aborosio Navori entered the running.
Juniors nominees are yet to be announced for September and October.
Team of the Year nominees have also been announced throughout the year.
Young's District Netball Association opens and under-17s were recognised in June, July's nomination went to the ladies' bowlers, while men's bowlers Damian Miller, James Maloney, Tom Shapcott and David Quigly were August nominees.
The under 17s and under 19s Group Nine premiership winning Cherrypickers sides were nominated in September, while the Young Lions Wagga Football third grade premiers picked up the nomination for October.
Sports Walk of Fame
Meanwhile, the committee this month closes nominations for Young's Sports Walk of Fame.
The Young Sports Advisory Committee is calling for nominations of players, coaches, umpires or administrators.
It is expected that the nominees will have contributed to the development of their chosen sport or sports within the region.
Nominations close November 30. Forms can be picked up at the Young Witness.
