Young's Fire and Rescue NSW unit are looking to recruit people to become retained firefighters, and will hold information nights on June 2 and June 16 at Young Fire Station.

On-call firefighters respond to all types of fires, hazardous material incidents, counter-terrorism, all manners of rescues, and assist other agencies with emergency responses.
"If anyone is even slightly interested and just wants a little bit more information come down and check it out. We can go through it all with them, what's involved to be a part of it, our requirements and meet the other firefighters and ask questions," Young fire captain Ryan Terry said.
Retained firefighters are required to attend emergency calls at anytime of the day.
From an employer's perspective, Stuart Norton from Norton Realty, who employs Mat McKnight, a retained firefighter, said it was no inconvenience to have a staff member who is also a part of Young's Fire and Rescue NSW unit.
"We don't notice it at all. It's normally quick. If anything we feel good that he's doing it. It's a good feeling to have one of our staff serving the community in that way," Mr Norton said.
The information nights begin 6.30pm.
