A fast moving storm on Tuesday afternoon knocked out powerlines around Young and across the state leaving over 30,000 homes and businesses without power until late into the evening.

On Wednesday about 10.40am, according to Essential Energy, 775 customers remain without power in parts of Bendick Murrell, Crowther, Greenethorpe, Koorawatha, Monteagle, Murringo, Wirrimah and Young.
Some homes in Grenfell, Bribbaree, Boorowa, Wallendbeen, Stockinbingal and Jugiong are also still without power.
According to Essential Energy several power lines across the state were all knocked out causing a transgrid failure with power at one point out between Young and the mid-north coast.
Bendick Murrell, Koorawatha and Cowra all reported power outages, however Cootamundra and Harden's power remained unaffected.
Originally Essential Energy estimated the power would be back on at 3.50pm, but as the storm moved north east it took out further grids as it went and creating even more work for Essential Energy crews.
The time was then further estimated to 12am, however power returned to most homes and businesses around the region between 9 and 10pm on Tuesday night.
Hilltops Council crews and emergency services including local police and SES units were called out with trees down across most major roads north and west of Young.
There were reports that a large number of trees were across the road in both directions between Young and Grenfell as well as Young and Cowra with motorists urged to take caution as crews cleaned up as fast as they could.
Young SES responded to 30 calls for assistance including a number of damaged roof jobs.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology station at the airport Young reached a top of 37.7 degrees Celsius on Tuesday just before the storms rolled in at 2.30pm.
By 3.30pm the mercury had dropped to 22.6 degrees.
Wind gusts reached 80km/h at 3.19pm through until 3.30pm when they dropped to 65km/h.
According to the BoM data Young received 2.8mm of rain in the gauge at the Young Airport.
The forecast for Friday is expected to be sunny with a top of 33 degrees Celsius and a low of 9 degrees.
The forecast for the weekend is predicted to bring more rain on Saturday with a shower or two developing and a top of 31 degrees Celsius and a low of 10. Sunday is expected to be partly cloudy with a top of 25 degrees Celsius and a low of 10 degrees.
