Since COVID restrictions have eased there have been a number of violent incidents across the District, according to police.
These assaults have resulted in serious criminal charges.
A 22-year-old man was charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray after he punched another man outside a licensed premises in Young on January 30.
The injured man suffered brain injuries, police said, and is still recovering in hospital.
Other assaults have occurred at Goulburn, Yass and Bowral.
Inspector Jacob Reeves of Young Police Sector said local police are focusing on assault offences as summer draws to a close.
"We find that intoxication in the home or public places, neighbourhood disputes and pre-existing conflicts can lead to assaults, threats and intimidation. The consequences for these offences can include criminal charges and or apprehended personal violence orders.
"Evidence indicates that alcohol misuse is a major contributing factor in assaults and other violent crimes.
"Remember that responsible drinking is not limited to pubs and clubs - it's important in your home, your friend's home and public places.
"The best way to resolve a dispute or conflict is to approach the issue with a calm approach. Should emotions escalate or if the matter is complex - 'walk away and work it out another day'," he said.
Hume Police District Crime Manager Detective Chief Inspector Brendan Bernie has asked the community to end the violence.
"I am asking that the responsible adults in the community have the tough and honest conversations with our youth and young adults to discourage using violence. All members of the community to treat everyone with courtesy and respect they would like in return," he said.
