Young’s bowlers pushed Cowra to the final stages of the match with Cowra passing Young’s 195-run total in the 49th over.
At one point, it looked like Cowra would cruise to victory, however a timely spell by left-arm quick Cal Taylor turned the screws and added some pressure as Cowra lost a few late wickets.

A late flurry of runs by lower-order Cowra bat Ben Houghton got Cowra over the line.
Earlier in the day, Mick Ashton blasted 56 in the final overs and boosted Young to a score close to 200 as Luke Cosgrove (48) and Powderly (33) also enjoyed time at the crease.
Ashton was also impressive with the ball finishing with figures of 1-45 off 13 overs while Craig Hambrook toiled without luck in his seven over spell.
Powderly was pleased with the effort overall.
“Mick was awesome... and Cal… wouldn’t have been able to do it without him,” he said.
“Most of the guys, it was their first game of the year… To play right to the end, it was good to see.”

While Young and District won’t have another representative game until February next year Powderly said it was a good opportunity to get the area’s better players together.
He also paid compliments to the playing surface and outfield, believing it offered plenty of opportunities for both bat and ball.
“It was the best one I’ve played on over there for a while and the outfield was awesome,” he said.
For Cowra, the victory sets up their fourth cup defense against Parkes this Sunday.
Josh Carmody (68), Peter Guthrie (78 not out) and Jacob McNaught (2-24 off 17 overs) were the standouts in the side.
