Cricket NSW representatives were in town to promote the game, visit schools and help South West Slopes junior and senior cricket associations plan summer competitions.
The school visits were used to create excitement for next month's cricket gala day in Young which is set to involve about 500 students from Young, Harden and Boorowa.
Older students from Young High School and Hennessy Catholic College will help officiate and provide assistance to younger students throughout the event on September 25.
"It's a great development opportunity and will help cricket sustain itself in the area," Cricket manager of Southern Inland NSW Michael Minns said.
Mr Minns encouraged families to use the state government's second active kids voucher as registrations are open for South West Slopes junior cricket.
