Precast panels have been stood at the site on Boorowa Street, with steelworks now being completed ahead of roofing, which is expected to commence shortly.
The new Bunnings smaller format store will span over 5000 square metres and have car parking for over 85 cars.
Features will include the main retail area, a timber and building materials yard and outdoor nursery.
Bunnings area manager James Burke said the new development represents a significant direct investment in the local community and is expected to create a number of new team member positions.
"The new Bunnings Young will create up to 45 jobs for local residents and we're excited to bring a wide range of outdoor living and home improvement products to the Young community," Mr Burke said. said.
The new Bunnings Young is located at 288 Boorowa Street, Young.
The development was put to council during the middle of last year.
Some readers, at the time, expressed huge excitement and believe it may generate more new developments or businesses to town, while others questioned whether it would impact local business.
"I think it's great for Young to finally get some new developments in town, employment for a lot of people, customers coming in from surrounding areas. Money being spent in our town is always good hopefully we get a few more businesses coming," Noelene Vitnell said.
"Embrace Bunnings and welcome them into your town. I live in Goulburn and we have had so many big name companies set up after Bunnings took the first step. Ultimately your town will benefit," Darryl Hargrave said.
"I think it can also make small business become more creative. We had to think of something to combat McDonalds $1 burgers and frozen coke, so our $6 deals were brought in. This town will slowly die if something isn't done to help it grow. If it creates more jobs, and more people coming to town I'm all for it," Amie Kirk said.
